Supported Living Services
Waincare Supported Living helps adults live safely, confidently and independently in their own home or a shared supported setting. We build a care and support plan around you — not a one-size-fits-all package — so you stay in control of your daily life while having the right support close by whenever you need it.
Whether you’re moving from residential care into your own tenancy, or you simply need a helping hand to manage day-to-day living, our trained support workers are here for you.

What Is Supported Living?
Supported living is a way of receiving care and support that lets you keep your own home, your own front door, and your own independence — rather than moving into a residential or nursing care setting. You (or your family, if they help manage things) hold your own tenancy agreement, just like any other renter. Waincare’s role is to provide the practical, personal and emotional support that sits alongside that, tailored to exactly how much or how little help you need.
This is one of the biggest differences between supported living and a care home. In a care home, accommodation and care are bundled together and provided by the same organisation, and daily routines are often more structured around the home rather than the individual. With supported living, your home and your care are separate — you choose (with support, if needed) how your day looks, who visits, and how your space is set up, while a dedicated support worker helps you manage the parts of daily life you find difficult.
Support can range from a few hours of visiting support each week — helping with shopping, appointments or paperwork — right through to round-the-clock, on-site support for people with more complex needs. The level of support is never fixed forever, either. As your confidence and independence grow, your support plan can be reviewed and adjusted, and reduced over time if that’s the right path for you. Equally, if your needs change and you require more support, your plan can flex to reflect that too.
Supported living is underpinned by a few key principles that guide everything we do:
- Choice and control — you make the decisions about your own life, from your daily routine to your long-term goals
- Independence — support is there to help you do things for yourself, not to do things for you
- Dignity and respect — your home, your privacy and your preferences are always respected
- Community connection — support workers help you stay connected to friends, family, and your local community, rather than being isolated
- Tailored, flexible support — your care plan is built around you, and can change as your needs and goals change
Supported living is designed for adults with a wide range of needs, including:
- Learning disabilities
- Physical disabilities
- Mental health support needs
- Autism
- Acquired brain injuries
- Age-related support needs
For many people, supported living is also a stepping stone — a way to move on from residential care, a family home, or hospital, and build the skills and confidence needed to live more independently over time. Our support workers don’t just carry out tasks for you; they work alongside you to help you learn and practise everyday skills, so that independence becomes something you build, not just something you’re given.
Our goal is always the same: to help you build the skills and confidence to live as independently as possible, while knowing the right support is there whenever you need it.
Our Supported Living Services Include
- Help with personal care and daily routines
- Support with cooking, cleaning and household tasks
- Medication support and prompts
- Budgeting and managing bills
- Support attending appointments (GP, dentist, hospital)
- Help accessing education, training or employment
- 24-hour or visiting support, depending on your needs
- Assistance developing independent living skills
Every support plan is written around you. We sit down with you (and your family or social worker, if you’d like) to understand your goals, then match you with a support worker who’s the right fit.
